LEGACY WORKSHOP #4 (Review)

Our Legacy Workshops have been a blast! The combination of saturated material from specific arts we practice with amazing training partners has been awesome. The four-hour session started with FMA Single Stick Disarms. This area focused on several variations that you could get based on the same entry point. We left room for homework in this scenario based on variations of depth between the swing of the weapon and entry. This format adds more notes of fun for later development and possibly even into one of our five-week Specialty Training Programs.  Next, we progressed into some complex Jeet Kune Do Trapping using the Ping Choy Gua Choy Series as our deployment method.  As always, this gave us homework to define more variables based on how our partner might move. We then eliminated some of the opponent’s options by diving deeper into the muddy waters of JKD and implementing Attack By Drawing (ABD) within our Hand Immobilization Attack (HIA). After warming up with these two sections, we “jumped” into Savate with the mechanics of spin kicks. We worked on targeting, timing, and distance of when to release these from our arsenal. Finally, that put us on top of each other working Shooto Body Positioning.  This drill gave attendees access to multiple places they could control another person. Then we opened the flood gates with seven to eight locks in each position. It is enlightening to see what you can do from every one of these positions as you transition around the body. If you missed all the fun, stay tuned and join us for the next Legacy Workshop in a few months. They are a great opportunity to step into specific arts and work areas that will flesh out more specifics in your training for fun, self-defense, and attribute development. We hope to see you at the next one!
