Mud Up & Ruck Up: Offering Excitement to Change Up Routines
Rucking is walking with a weighted vest or backpack. We often Ruck miles most weeks of the year, offering us a chance to get outside, clear our heads, and change up other routines. After a while, this can also become routine. So, how do we mix things up so they don’t become a slow death of routine? We disguise routine by changing where we Ruck, adding more weight and introducing it to others who have never done it before. In our case, this time, we hit GoRuck’s Themed Predator Ruck!
If you recall the movie Predator, Arnold Schwarzenegger hides from the Predator by wearing mud. Well, that’s exactly what we offered during this Ruck. We set the distance further for everyone and hit the five-mile loop on Townlake. The “buy-in” was 20 pounds for anyone over 150 pounds and 10 pounds for those under 150 pounds in body weight. The twist was that we provided sanitary mud for anyone who wanted to “mud up.” Then, 16 of us hit the trail for miles. We stopped for a little refreshing ice cream along the way and worked it off before we made it to the finish line. Amongst us were first-timers, repeat offenders, and even ultra-marathon ruckers. The goal was to have fun, meet new people, and enjoy outdoor time. We followed up with some food and drinks to cement the memory together and enjoy more time with each other. Thank you again to everyone who came out, and we look forward to the next themed Ruck with all of you!
